The clinicians and researchers at the Stuttering Center are constantly searching for new ways to help people who stutter and their families. Here is an overview of some of their recent accomplishments:
J. Scott Yaruss, PhD, CCC-SLP, BRS-FD, ASHA Fellow
- Recently completed a new on-line course about working with preschool children who stutter and their families. This course for clinicians is based on his popular booklet for parents of preschool children who stutter, published by the National Stuttering Association. The online course is available for ASHA-Approved Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through www.OnlineCEUs.com. For more information about this and other courses authored by Dr. Yaruss, visit his website: www.Yaruss.com.
- Recently published the Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering -Adult (OASES-A). The OASES-A is a comprehensive measurement tool designed to assess the entirety of the stuttering disorder from the perspective of the individual who stutters. The OASES-A is available from Pearson Assessments. Note: New versions of the OASES for School-age Children (ages 7-12) and Teens (ages 13-17) are currently in development and should be available soon. An announcement will be made on this website when these tools are published.
